BS 7989:2001The BS7989:2001 standard is specific in demanding a minimum performance for ductless cabinets installed with activated carbon filters. In general, this standard describes a minimum efficiency required of the activated carbon filter. The challenge chemical here is propan-2-ol and is evaporated at a concentration of 800ppm within the enclosure. The standard demands the concentration at the exhaust to be less than 40ppm upon evaporating 1L of propan-2-ol and less than 400ppm upon evaporating another litre (2L) of propan-2-ol.
In order to achieve a constant release of 800ppm of propan-2-ol, a constant volume of propan-2-ol is instantly evaporated inside the enclosure until the entire required volume of the chemical is evaporated. The delivery of the chemical, evaporation and monitoring of the exhaust concentration is computerised. The data acquisition system and the PC communicates and controls various equipments in ensuring proper implementation of the test protocols. Our ductless fume cabinet is independently tested and certified by Invent-UK and found to meet exceptionally well, the requirements of the BS7989:2001 standard.
