Increased Severity Challenge Tests

As part of our commitment in providing the best of laboratory fume hoods, we, in the R&D department continuously test our products beyond the needed test criteria set by the governing standards. A series of ASHRAE 110-1995 tests were performed on ESCO's latest addition to the fume hood family, the EFH - Berkeley Duo. In addition to the standard test procedures and settings prescribed in ASHRAE 110-1995, the EFH - Berkeley Duo was subjected to increased severity challenge tests, in which the fume hood is exposed to a more extreme laboratory environmental setting. The following tests were conducted:

  1. Air Inflow velocity at 0.5, 0.4, 0.3 and 0.2 m/s
  2. Using an FFU, running at 0.45m/s to generate a cross draft across the sash opening
A map of the set-up Position of the FFU
    A Fan Filter Unit (FFU)
  3. Using a moving vertical board, to represent a door being opened or closed
A map of the set-up Position of the sliding board
The vertical sliding board mounted on its track
