Automated Pipetting System

“Pipetting" is commonly used in molecular biology, analytical chemistry, and medical tests, to  transport a measured volume of liquid. Moreover, its performances are regulated by the International Standard ISO8655-1:2002.

In principle, automated pipetting system is a device that is programmed to do transfers of liquid to preselected groups of vessels. These critical labor saving devices provides precise sample preparation for high output sequencing or screening (HTC), preparation of sample, liquid/powder weighing, and also bio-assays of many kinds. One advantageous feature of automated pipetting is the ability to enhance the reproducibility and the throughput of laboratory experiments.

Esco Custom Airstream® G Series

Esco has installed a customized Airstream® G-Series biological safety cabinet to house an Agilent Bravo Automated Liquid Handling Platform last February 2017 at the Center of Life Sciences, SLING Program, National University of Singapore. Established by Dr. Markus Wenk, SLING, the Singapore lipidomics incubator, an interdisciplinary program dedicated to innovation, education and partnership in lipidomics research at the National University of Singapore. SLING is a major global magnet for collaborating parties in lipidomics—from academia and industry—delivering new technologies and intellectual capital.

To accommodate the automated liquid handling platform, AC2-4S8-G3 (Figure 1) was configured with 908 mm inner height, work tray with 600 mm inner depth and reinforced to hold 80 Kg Load. The 28” fixed stand with levelling feet was constructed with a customized depth of 822 mm. The unit as well comes with custom-made side walls with 39.2 mm holes on the left wall (at 300 mm from back), 39.2 mm holes on the left wall (at 380 mm from back), 39.2 mm holes on the right wall (at 300 mm from back), and Zero Volt Relay Contact.
